these two seem to work together

in my head at least.

today I am going to see Auktyon among other things. Possibly do a little street shooting. Going to be a busy day.

I understood today that it is stupid to expect recognition of my photographic vision by all, when only a small group of people bears me as a person. That is a relief.I just need someone to remind that to me every time I start to get whiny.

The Bahai Gardens

The Bahai Gardens in Haifa are so groomed that the word roccoco comes to mind. They seem so unnatural it is a bit frightening.

Kodak announced a new version of tmax 400.Nice.

Life is strange. Often I feel happy in the morning and sad in the evening. I have nothing to complain about but yet I am not happy. I feel I dont know where I am heading. I think one of the things that drive me is photography – but where am I going with it? An exhibition or a book would attract no one,I will never make money of it in a way I would enjoy it and yet I don’t see myself not taking pictures.

That what plays in my head:

Nick Cave-into my arms

I don’t believe in an interventionist God
But I know, darling, that you do
But if I did I would kneel down and ask Him
Not to intervene when it came to you
Not to touch a hair on your head
To leave you as you are
And if He felt He had to direct you
Then direct you into my arms

Wanted to post this post for almost a week but waited ’till now.

the seaside

The sea is gorgeous now.

Went for a walk about town(Tel Aviv and Jaffa) with Noogie from darkroom forum on
d-spot.Great fun.Shot a couple of rolls.

I now started using two RF’s,both with 35/2.8 and loaded with the same film(plus-x is a recent favorite). They are faster to change then reload one camera, and then I reload both over coffee or something. I shot all day long with no meter. I dont use it much but now it is dead I feel it’s absence.

I finished reading “Chronicles Volume One – Bob Dylan” and “Bound for Glory” by Woodie Guthrie several days ago. Both are very good.

the art critic

Summaron looks delicious wide open. Even with a misaligned RF.

tmax 100 in tetenal ultrafin 1+20

Haifa Museum of Japanese Art.

I passed the test(I got 61 when the minimum passing grade is 60). Now I need to see to a couple of small issues and the course is over. I am so relieved.

Sad cities have sad Graffitti

I spent the weekend in the best way humanly possible.

I still didnt get the exam results and I am very nervous.I would hate to retake the test, and if I fail the retake,I will have to retake the whole course.

My gossen seems to stop responding below a certain EV,which is sad. I guess I am in the market for a “new” budget light meter.

to lazy to write a title

Been shooting quite a lot but developed none.patience.

Using the leica is inspiring. It has the best VFRF possible and is very intuitive -it is much more intuitive to me then an automatic SLR(which I cant get used to) for example. I also found that different focal lenghts work better(for me)in different cities. Tel Aviv is a very 28-35 city while Haifa seemed more of a 50 – possibly even a short tele.

I just listened to a digitally remastered Brian Ferry “Boys and Girls” album after listening to a bad shape record – the record sounds way better with the crackle and occasional click.I am surprised every time anew. The Rega Planar was my best purchase after the leica in the last couple of years.

been a cave dweller. He sounds like he’s at the edge of the fire,
or in the deep snow,or in a ghostly forest, the coolness of
conscious obvious strength, full tilt and vibrant with danger”.
