New Jerusalem photos-Holy sepulchre

I got bored with the San Francisco photos I was working on so I decided to scan some of the color stuff (that I accumulated over the last 5-6 months).

The shots were taken on Fuji Proplus II iso 100 photos underexposed by 3-4 stops at least! I used photoshop and neat image(on one of them) to get rid of some noise. All were taken with the nikon fm2n with 50/1.4 or 28/1.8(leats likely). The guard of the orthodox patriarch. This chrisitan Arab Gentleman is a living anachronism. In the days of the Othoman Empire important people were assigned armed(richly garbed) guards to walk in front of them and announce their coming by hitting the ground with their staves. With time , the Turks outlawed civilian arms and only the staves remained.
The rich garb became a dark suit and a fez hat.

A coptic monk lighting candle on the Edicule(the tomb of Christ). Copts are generally looked down at by the rest of the christian world. Since they ran out of money (at some historic point) they got the smallest bit of the church which, by a stroke of poetic justicedevine Genius is the head resting place of the edicule.
